Tournament Schedule Play Rules

Major Tournaments -  There are 3 Major Tournaments that occur throughout the playing season. They are: 1) Club Championship (by flight), 2) Partners Best Ball, and 3) Bill Carr Championship.

Defending Champions - All defending champions of the previous years Major Tournaments will be presumed to be defending their titles and will be seeded #1 in the current year's tournament unless otherwise stated to the Tournament Committee before or on the day of qualifying play. Prior winners will forfeit their automatic seeding if competing as a Medalist.

Play Dates - All Tournament rounds will be played on the dates indicated unless otherwise determined by the committee. If you are unable to compete for the duration of the tournament, you must declare yourself ineligible and compete only for Medalist.

Posting of scores - All players are responsible to ensure that their scores are entered. Each captain must enter their groups' scores with attestment to the Handicap Committee. When the final group has turned in their score cards, any non-posted scores or missing cards will result in disqualification of the players involved for the particular event played that day. A backup card should be kept by a second person in the group for comparison to ensure proper scores. The second card card may be destroyed after the first is submitted.

Pairings - The Tournament Committee reserves the right to determine pairings in the tournaments.

Ties - Final match ties in 2 of the major tournaments will be decided by a play-off starting at the 1st hole. The Pro Shop should be notified of such. Ties in the club championship tournament will be decided by an additional 18 hole playoff.

Cancelation of an event - Certain golf events may be cancelled if there is a conflict with another tournament.

Tournament Competition - (1) A minimum of 8 players must complete their rounds to be an official event. (2) Those that are eligible can play from the white tees in all tournaments except the Club Championship (since it is a scratch tournament).

Scoring - Scoring in match play tournaments will be recorded by the Tournament Committee after the last group has submitted their scores in the clubhouse. These scores will be final. Scores for stroke competition will be reviewed by the Handicap Committee.

Ringers Tournament - Begins on April 1 and ends November 15th. 3 flights (ABC) are to be determined after the handicap report produced in mid-May. Only Sunday rounds will count.

Snakes - Snakes are $1.00 per three-putt with a maximum of 5 per round.

Clearview Cup - A year long tournament that all members participate in. The qualifiers for the finals are the 8 top point getters from the year. The finals will be 2 rounds of aggregate score. Qualifiers for the Clearview Cup Championship will get Starting Strokes of: -10, - 8, - 6, - 5, - 4, - 3, - 2,and - 1. These points are in addition to their handicaps (which will be locked on Thursday prior to round 1). Points given out for the majors will be done on match play rounds. 50 pts. for the winner of a match and 25 pts. for the loser. The next match will be the same and into the finals. Sweeps winner points will only be given out if there are 8 or more players. If there are 7 or less, 15 pts will be given to all.

Fourman POH - Must have a minimum of 16 players. Tournament Committee will attempt to format teams comprised of players of different flights as fairly as possible. Ties will divide prize money evenly.

Team Captains - No committee chairmen, nor any Board of Governor member, Club officers will be required to be Team Captains. Team Captains are responsible for turning the completed scorecard to the Tournament Committee with date played, attests and “snake” money total which should be turned into the “snakes” committee.

Sign-Up Sheets - Every week there will be a sign-up sheet for the following weeks competition. When you sign up for any major tournament, the previous winner (current #1 seed) must declare if they are competing for Medalist, by which that person would be giving up their guaranteed #1 seed. Medalist Only (MO) means that you are only competing in the qualifying competition and not for the duration of the competition. When a member signs up for a major competition, you are deemed to be playing the entire competition. Members must notify the Tournament committee by Wednesday after the qualifying competition of the inability to play, so that an alternate can be designated. After Thursday, any member who cancels without a valid reason will be fined.

Match Play - Competition where scoring is computed by lowest score on each hole, whether a team, individual, scratch or handicap competition. Match play rules apply as listed in the Rules of Golf. Whenever feasible and to enhance pace of play, reasonable and judicious use of conceded putts should prevail.

Stroke Play - Total strokes taken during a stipulated round, in either a scratch or handicap format. Stroke play rules apply as listed in the Rules of Golf.

Riding Golf Carts - The policy for cart availability pertains to the playing of the 3 major tournaments only. If no carts are available due to weather conditions at the scheduled tee-time, any member may elect to compete the following week.

Tee Times - Tee times should be posted by Thursday preceding Sunday's play. The website is www.clearviewgc.org and any problems should be resolved by the Pairing or Tournament Chairmen. Any problems are to be initiated by the individual and it is his responsibility to make his scheduled tee-time.

Claims - All claims about prize money must be forwarded to the club president within 5 days after completion of play.

Parings will post wed. Night after 8 pm
